Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any experience to take these classes?
We welcome people of all skill levels and especially encourage beginners! All of our classes to date provide an introductory level education to the given project and its necessary skills. In the future, we will be running intermediate level courses for students to build on the skills they have learned in prior classes.
The class I wanted to take is sold-out, when will you offer it next?
We are always thrilled when our classes sell-out, but often hear this question from those who missed out. We structure our year into a fall, winter, and spring semester and tend to repost popular classes (those that sell out quickly) when the subsequent semester begins. The best way to stay up-to-date on new class listings is to subscribe to our mailing list. Don’t worry, we won’t be inundating you with emails, just the important info about our upcoming classes! You can sign-up for our mailing list at the bottom of our homepage.
How do I give a workshop as a gift?
That’s very thoughtful of you! You can sign up a loved one in the same way you would sign up yourself. If the course you wished to enroll them in is sold-out or you would rather they choose their own, we offer gift certificates that can be redeemed for any of our available workshops. There is no panic to redeem a gift certificate since they have no expiration.
What if I can’t make it to every class of a multi-week course?
Fret not! We understand that it can be difficult to commit to every class of a longer workshop, so we are happy to accommodate students who miss a class or two (depending on the length of the workshop). Given the structure of the courses, it is easy for us to keep your project up-to-date so that you can jump back in with the rest of the class when you return. This policy is not applicable to one night workshops.
Can I get a refund if I can't make it to my workshop?
All workshops are non-refundable. If you happen to miss a class from a multi-week workshop then worry-not as your project will be kept up-to-date for when you return. With enough notice, we can try and fill the spot and refund you; however, especially in the event of a last minute cancellation, we cannot guarantee the spot will be filled.
How do I find the studio?
We are located at 225 Sterling Rd, Unit 200B, which is just west of Lansdowne and south of Bloor. It can be tricky to navigate Sterling Rd so feel free to contact us if you are lost. Follow the STUDIO link at the top of this page for a reference image of the front of our building.
Where can I park my bike/car?
There is some parking for students in front of our studio in the loading bay or in the adjoining lot. Cyclists will find ample room to lock up their bikes along our railing (feel free to bring them inside if it’s raining).
What kind of clothes should I wear?
We encourage students to wear work clothes that they don’t mind getting dirty given we are in a workshop environment. For safety reasons, we ask that students not wear open-toed footwear and long, flowing garments or jewelry. Furthermore, students with long hair should be prepared to tie it back during class. Aside from that, you are free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in!
Do you offer private lessons?
We do! With the help of one of our talented instructors, we offer guidance through a variety of tasks and projects of your choosing. Our one-on-one sessions are $75/hr + HST + materials. See our services page for more info.
Can I rent space in the studio?
During the day, our studio is home to five independent small businesses that all pay for their share of our beloved space. As such, we cannot offer studio time even for short-term projects.
